HOWTO: Integrate one or multiple remote control tools with SDM
Document ID: NI00304
Products: NetInstall 5.0 or higher
Last Revised: 10/2/2003
Summary: NetInstall’s Service Distribution Manager (SDM) allows for integration of third party remote control tools by editing a configuration file.
Discussion: “RControl.cfg” is a configuration file located in the NetInstall server’s root directory. By editing this file, third party applications can be integrated in the SDM machine context menu. Example: [Remote Control Software] ; Under Available Options all Sections have to be listed separated ; by “;” Available Options=App1;Proxy 32 ; The following lines work for an app that registers itself under ; HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Manufacturer\App1\Config Data ; A value for ProgramDir already has to exist on the controlling ; machine, or the tool will not show in the SDM, because NI assumes ; that the Remote control SW is not available locally. ; In the example the App1.exe can be called with the parameter ; -mWorkstationname to start the remote session on a particular ; machine [App1] AppRegKey=HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Manufacturer\App1\Config Data ExecutableName=App1.exe Params=-M%s PathValueName=ProgramDir ; The next example shows how to integrate the tool “proxy32” ; /PIP /SWorkstationName are the command line parameters for this ; remote control SW [Proxy 32] AppRegKey=HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\Proxy32.exe ExecutableValueName= Params=/PIP /S%s
