    Packaging Office 2003

    Chris.Kuhl Rookie
I am packaging office 2003 and used the 2003 ORK.  When I logon to the PC, I get:

      error 2203
      Cannot open database file.

Is there a way around this, so I can still use my .mst file created by the 2003 ORK.

So NetInstall is able to read and deploy Office with the transform you created in ORK? It's when you first log into the client after installation that the error occurs?

Have you tried installing Office with the transform by hand through the command line?

Yes, If I install office 2k3 through the command line and use the transform, it installs successfully.
I am installing using advertisement on my msi package.  The error occurs during the advertisement is being installed.

It seems to me that there is a compatibility issue with NetInstall 5.5 and a .MST file created from the O2K3 ORK.  I ended up creating the .MST file through the ORK.
This would install successfully if I used a .bat file to install Office 2003, but wouldn't install successfully if I used NetInstall.
Strangely enough, I created a backup copy of my .MST file, and opened the origional .MST using the NetInstall .MST editor.  Watched NetInstall error out a couple of times.  I exited the .MST, tried the install again through NetInstall, and it successfully installed.
This might be just a coincidence, or I forced it to work by hacking the .MST from everyway possible, but that was the only way I could get office to install successfully.

I simply created a transform then told NI5.5 to execute the setup with the command line variables to use the transform.

ORK uses some selfmade tables which aren't defined by the msi standard.
therefore the ni transform wizard skips them (sometimes it crashes...)

try editing the transform only with one tool. either ork or ni transform wizard. (or rather use orca etc..)
