Advantages of Win PE over DOS PE?

      Hi all

We are in the process of migrating from LDMS 8.5 to 8.8.  DOS PE imaging has served us well over the years without much fuss but we would like to consider migrating to WinPE to update to HII rev 9 (latest version) and embrace OSD Provisioning Templates.  We have read the benefits of WinPE http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc766093.aspx and understand WinPE is more robust because it uses Kerberos.  There may also be fewer driver conflicts/issues and more vendor/driver support in WinPE.

However, DOS PE is free but WinPE incurs licensing costs.  We would have to consider the IT overhead of having to learn/develop/deploy a new imaging process.  DOS PE works fine for us - the old saying comes to mind - "if it ain't broke don't fix it".  We don't want to migrate to WinPE just for the sake of it but equally we don't want to miss out on any WinPE benefits that we may have overlooked.

Having said that, we've just read http://www.landesk.com/Products/LDMS/WhatsNew.aspx which confirms that WinPE offers "imaging performance up to three times faster than DOS-based imaging".  We may be persuaded is this is the case but DOS PE appears to be quick enough.

What are others' opinions/experiences of migrating from DOS PE to WinPE please?
