You can add different styles to the journal lists that will colour code each row based upon a criteria. The easiest way to capture which of the attributes to colour on is to add a new field (AC_ColourFlag) to Journal and every time a note (Journal.Note) or email (Journal.Email) is added set the field accordingly. For example set you new field to AutoGenterated if it is an email sent out or if a note is added by the customer it will set it to Customer.
I used an editing save rule on Journal.Email:
else if CreatedBy == [Incident#.]Owner
else if CreatedBy == [Incident#.]LoginId then "Customer" else "")
You can play with this for Notes (there is no AutoGenerated flag so remove that part)
You can then use a style expression similar to the one below on the Journal List to highlight rows based upon your new field.
$(if AC_ColourFlag == "Autogenerated"
else if AC_ColourFlag == "Customer"
else if AC_ColourFlag == "Owner"
Owner = Yellow
I would use the Style editor to pick some nicer colour schemes.
