Purpose is to verify that a record already exists in the list of entries in a business object.
You can try something like that:
- Define a pick list using "ExistingText" of object type "UserEntry" as Value and Display field
- Define another field (e.g. called "ExistingTextDuplicateCheck") und use the pick list defined above to validate it (you need not display this field on your forms)
- Define an editing rule within "UserEntry" that sets "ExistingTextDuplicateCheck" to the value of "ExistingText" on any change of "ExistingText".
- Now you can check "ExistingTextDuplicateCheck_Valid": If it is null, then the entered text does not already exist.
Hope this helps
Your approach makes sense. As a matter of fact we already have it implemented that way. The only problem with this approach is that it leads to saving additional data in the tables and could fill the DB up faster. I will like to be able to do this directly by code, without needeing to introduce additional fields.
Not sure if this is an exact match to what you are looking for, but have you seen the info on workflow blocks in the Admin help? There are many that come stock with HEAT and you can create your own. Looking at your description it made me think of the workflow block called, " Run for Search Workflow Block".
You can read all the workflow blocks by using those words in the search in Admin help.
