The Add and Edit buttons are shown if the Role the user has logged in with has Object Permissions to Add or Edit the Business Object that you are linking.
The only way to remove the Add and Edit buttons is to remove the Add/Edit permission from the Role.
In this case we have to remove the add / edit rights for service request. That won't work in this case. Any ideas why we get the error messages if you click on add or edit?
Possibly because there are no forms associated with that Business Object on the Layout.

In respect to having the buttons work again.
The forms that come up when you click on Edit or Add is driven by the 'modal form assignment' in the layout. They may not be configured for ServiceReq for the object you are in.
You should be able to just add a modal form for ServiceReq in the layout you are working in.
Here you can see I added Incident TO Incident so the "Related Incidents" tab shows that webservice form. (The Employee# column is going to actually be the name of the object, so ServiceReq in your case.)
The Add button now opens the Webselfservice.new form.
Any one tried to click "Add" or "Edit" in Master Incident search window?
Any method to hide the buttons in search window from Service Desk Analyst role but still allow then to add new incident from main Incident tab?
