Updating Software Policies with new revisions to packages

    JHammo Apprentice

I have deployed a software package to roughly 50 systems, and had to update the package with some additional escript logic.  I have created a second revision and tested it and now I want to update the existing software policy.    Is there any way to update the target so that it only affects systems that haven't received the software package yet?

The Below options are available to me, but I can't find any documentation that really explains what happens with each configuration. any help would be greatly appreciated.

      Update All Policy Instances

Update All Policy Instances (only active policy instances)

Update All Policy Instances (only inactive policy instances)

thanks again everyone for you're help lately, you have been a great help.

          Hi Jason,

there are two different options for updating a policy.

          • Update is uncritical
            • Policy instances already executed will not be updated. The package will not be reinstalled.
            • Policy instances not yet executed will be updated. These instances use the new configuration for installation.
          • Update is critical
            • Policy instances already executed must be updated in order for the package to be reinstalled.
            • These instances use the new configuration for installation.

In your case you need to choose "uncritical".

          regards
