Is there a way to create a policy based distribution that is only available during a certain time frame (eg. make available between 2:00am and 5:00am)? I want to deploy updates to a group of servers that are communicating through a gateway and so it has to be via Policy. However, we only want the servers to get the policy if they check in between 2am and 5am (which they should do since they will be checking in every hour). But if for some reason they do not (down network segment, etc...) we don't want the server then checking in during regular business hours and launching the patching process and possibly rebooting - hence the need for a "window of opportunity" so to speak.
The only real way to do this is t control the locally scheduled task that launches the policy check and set a time filter for that. It means no other policies could run during working hours as well, but that should do the trick for you even if it is a sledgehammer tp crack a nut.
