Any fields marked as Filter or Date Filter can be used as filters, regardless of whether they actually reside in the first table or the second table.
Any fields marked as List can be used as columns in record lists, regardless of whether they actually reside in the first table or the second table
For this view, if you have specific fields, whether in the first table or the second table, that you want to always be the default columns displayed, you can either configure them in the Default List Fields tab of the View Properties in the Data Model Editor or the Default List Fields tab of the Administration > Settings dialog in the web interface. The first saves the settings in the data model file and the second saves the settings in the database. You can also use the Profile > Settings dialog to set the default fields for just your user profile.
