I'm running ISM 2017.3. When I create a task from an Incident, the service field in the task is pre-filled with the service from the incident. When I create a task from a Change, Project, etc. the service field is blank (those objects don't generally have a service). The layouts of all these objects use the Task.Assignment object and the Task.Assignment.New form. I've scoured the Task.Assignment business object rule(s) and can't find any rule that autofills this service field. What am I missing?
It is done via the relationships, lets look at Incident, both the IncidentContainsTask and IncidentContainsTaskAssignment relationships have an update block towards the bottom updating the service on creation.
You can just add this field mapping to the Problem and Change relationships to task.
Just test in staging first to make sure you are happy it works.
Thank you for that. I'm relatively new to ISM and didn't know relationships could work like that. Just another area to hunt stuff down. Ugh!
