    importing data using excel sheet

    WALA Apprentice

i want to import data to the ISM using excel but i have validation constrain that should be included; as below :

      Request TypeServiceCategorySubCategory

      EXP :

      complaintEnd UserComplaintService
      complaintEnd UserSuggestionSuggestion
      incidentEnd User3D PrinterConsumable
      incidentEnd User3D PrinterHardware
      incidentEnd User3D PrinterSoftware

Should i import it as is ,i mean the excel even with the repeated fields  ? or some work needed to be done on the sheet ,as  divide it into smaller sheets ,

how can i work with this sheet to have pick lists with validation constrains on the ISM ?

          Hello WALA,

I don't completely get what you're trying to accomplish or asking. Could you please be more specific and / or detailled?

What exactly do you want to import and into which Business Object?

Regarding picklists and validation constraints being used in an importer:

You look at the picklist and what value it expects. That is the value which needs to be provided by the import file. All the other constrains should work as usual.

          Kind regards

            Hello Jungheim ,

Am trying to import data to Incident Business Object ,  to a  specific fields  as below :

            1.   Service
            2. Category
            3. Subcategory

each pick list is validated with the other ,EXP when Service pick list is  selected for exp an  Email , in Category filed just show HW,SW, ..  options;  accordingly the pick list for the subcategory will be  changed .

              Hello WALA,

usually you can do this. But you need a unique identifier for the Incident. For this you could create your own import counter field or you know the exact Incident IDs if you want to update exisiting Incidents.

So where exactly does your import not work? Maybe you want to share the configuration of it. The constrains should work when importing the data.

              Kind regards
