Best way XP SP1 to SP2 + dotnet 2 or higher

I have some systems that are SP1 and I need to upgrade them to SP2 and dotnet 2.0 or higher. I trying to figure out the best way to do this without having to manually run windows update on all the machines.

I was point ed to some patch scripts in LANDesk and tried them but not luck. I downloaded SP2 and created a distribution package and tried it and still no luck. The package seems to run, but after a reboot it still shows as SP1.

Any tips or help on this would be appreciated.

          Just to make sure ...

... the service pack install runs, but after the reboot the OS claims it's still on SP1?

You'll want to look at the service pack log-files for this (which I assume Microsoft must have somewhere) and find out what's going wrong. Finding out what's tripping you over (and it must be pretty hefty) here should be your first priority. And the best way to do that, is to check the service pack logs (which I imagine must exist).
