8.8 SP3 - Updating LDAppl for a major upgrade that's occuring this weekend. When I attempt to run the full inventory script (which I picked up from these forums) it runs very slow.. 5000 machines. It's been running for 5 hours now and I still have 1200 to go. Custom job window shows that only 2 or 3 machines are running at a time. I just figured it would send the request to all of the machines and deal with the scans as they came in. Any thoughts?
Post what you are running. Also, if you are running a script (you indicate custJob), it will wait until the entire scan is finished. If you use:
on the end of the line for the scan it will not wait for the inventory scan to complete while processing the rest of the targets. Also, custjob scripts are older technology and may take longer. You could write a simply batch file to do the same thing and run it via a Policy Supported Push. This will also give you some task completion for machines that are off.
Here is the script:
REMEXEC1=<qt/>%LDMS_CLIENT_DIR%\LDISCN32.EXE<qt/> /NTT=%server%:5007 /S="%server%" /I=HTTP://%server%/ldlogon/ldappl3.ldz /NOUI /NOCD /sync /f o=C:\output.txt /debug
I will take your advice and try the batch file via PSP. I assume I can just call LDISCN32 with /f and /sync?
Not sure you need a sync. If you just need software scan than /f will do it (if no full software scan is needed remove /f). Also if you use a batch file replace %server% with the actual server name and %LDMS_CLIENT_DIR% with the path "C:\Program Files\Landesk\Ldclient\" Also remove o=C:\output.txt /debug
Thanks, I learn something new everyday here
