Hopefully the explanation over the phone will have helped but just to recap:
Create a View in Designer called Hot Topic. Add the Details window and uncheck the mandatory checkbox on any field that you don't want to be mandatory in the Hot Topic.
In Helpdesk, create a new Group called HOT_TOPIC andadd the required number of analysts (at the moment, that's you!) to the Group. Then go to File/New View Mapping and choose an Analyst mapping, Client only where the login is
Analyst ID DUNCAN
Group HOT TOPIC
View HOT TOPIC
Whwn you log out and back in, if you go into the HOT TOPIC Group you'll be able to edit or create Hot Topics without having to fill in the ID (which is nearly always mandatory) but users in any other Group who *use* the Hot Topic will still be constrained to fill in the mandatory fields.
Any questions - drop me a mail or give me a call.
Thank you Jean. It worked a treat!
Ah.. that'll be what the HOT_TOPIC group was for that I deleted
That's a good tip though, I keep having that problem! Thanks.
You're SO not the first Aaron - & I'm reasonably sure you won't be the last! But I'm glad the advice helped
