I have asked on adding engine updates being added. They told me there are some licensing restrictions stopping us from providing those.
But I will enter the Change request on av-105 to add the Windows 7 OS types.
Hi Aaron, thanks for your help (and fast response) dont forget the 2008 ones too
Any ideas on how long a cr like this would take (ball park is fine), I can setup a workaround while I am waiting or can do it manually if it is only going to be a few days.
That is a bugger about the engine update, Is it worth me raising an official case to try and push it a bit more?
Unless they come back with a reason why they can't add windows 7 (and 2008) to the list. It should only be a day or two. I'll post it here when they change it.
You can try raising an official case on the engine, all they can do is say no.
Our Vulnerability Developers couldn't not find anything that said The Mcafee Buisness versions support windows 7 or 2008. Our guidelines will not let us put out the definitions until Mcafee officially says they support the OS. There home versions does so I'm hopeful that the business versions will follow soon.
If you can find something that shows the Mcafee buisness versions are supported by windows 7, then we can add it to the vulnerability.

Here is the link that shows the McAfee VirusScan Enterprise is supported under 2008.
The readme for the Dat files reports that it works for all McAfee virus products provided that the engine version is greater than 4.3.20, which states that it is no dependant on a McAfee Antivirus Product but on the Engine Version.http://download.nai.com/products/datfiles/4.x/nai/readme.txt http://www.mcafee.com/apps/downloads/security_updates/dat.asp
Here is links to show that McAfee Virusscan Enterprise is supported under 2008 R2 and Windows 7, provided they meet Patch Level 2 for 8.7 version.
I hope this is enought information to get the vulnerability updated for 2008 and Windows 7.
Any joy on this, I think Michael has provided enough information, let me know if you need anything else. It is becoming a pain manually patching all our servers.
