    How to uninstall Sun Java 1.4

    Rookie

      Hi there -

      I'm trying to build an uninstall package for Sun Java 1.4.3, which I have the 'installer" EXE for.  However, when I build the uninstall package in the Distribution module, I do not get the option to click the "uninstall" radio button.

      I used /? on the EXE for this software program and didn't see a /u for uninstall or something.

      Anyone know how I can build an uninstall package for this?

      Thanks.

          Hi.

          You could try one of these possibilities:

          By using original exe: (see http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/plugin/developer_guide/silent.html)

          <jre>.exe /s /v "/qn [REBOOT=Suppress]" /x

          where <jre>.exe is the single executable installer for the    JRE and REBOOT=Suppress, if used, indicates that if locked files    are encountered the computer should not be rebooted.

          Example

          j2re-1_4_2-bin-b18-windows-i586-05_mar_2003.exe /s /v "/qn REBOOT=Suppress"      /x

          Or using msiexec directly:

          This should remove all 1.4.x JREs:

          msiexec /qn /norestart /x {7148F0A8-6813-11D6-A77B-00B0D0142000}
          msiexec /qn /norestart /x {7148F0A8-6813-11D6-A77B-00B0D0142010}
          msiexec /qn /norestart /x {7148F0A8-6813-11D6-A77B-00B0D0142020}
          msiexec /qn /norestart /x {7148F0A8-6813-11D6-A77B-00B0D0142030}
          msiexec /qn /norestart /x {7148F0A8-6813-11D6-A77B-00B0D0142040}
          msiexec /qn /norestart /x {7148F0A8-6813-11D6-A77B-00B0D0142050}
          msiexec /qn /norestart /x {7148F0A8-6813-11D6-A77B-00B0D0142060}
          msiexec /qn /norestart /x {7148F0A8-6813-11D6-A77B-00B0D0142070}
          msiexec /qn /norestart /x {7148F0A8-6813-11D6-A77B-00B0D0142080}
          msiexec /qn /norestart /x {7148F0A8-6813-11D6-A77B-00B0D0142090}
          msiexec /qn /norestart /x {7148F0A8-6813-11D6-A77B-00B0D0142100}
          msiexec /qn /norestart /x {7148F0A8-6813-11D6-A77B-00B0D0142110}
          msiexec /qn /norestart /x {7148F0A8-6813-11D6-A77B-00B0D0142120}
          msiexec /qn /norestart /x {7148F0A8-6813-11D6-A77B-00B0D0142130}
          msiexec /qn /norestart /x {7148F0A8-6813-11D6-A77B-00B0D0142140}
          msiexec /qn /norestart /x {7148F0A8-6813-11D6-A77B-00B0D0142150}
          msiexec /qn /norestart /x {7148F0A8-6813-11D6-A77B-00B0D0142160}

            Here are two scripts that I use to remove 1.4.2.x and 1.5.x

            If you want to keep the latest version, but remove the older version (in the same product line), then add : to the front of the command.

            Make these .bat or .cmd files and use as Software Dist. use as part of a custom defintion
