This is a bit tricky, to say the least. Your main issue here is that LANDesk isn't really a "real-time up-time tool" as you'd need for that. Yes, we do have real-time components, used for monitoring and alerting, but those send their messages to the Core "as and when" needed. The Core doesn't keep track of its 50, 500, 5,000 or even 25,000 devices (depending on size of the estate), as this would cause constant network clog.
Background discovery *CAN* try to discover your devices, but that's just a quick prod about devices being up/reachable - not something that can be queried.
The question here is how you define "in use" ... you *COULD* fire off a report on something as simple/basic as "all devices that sent inventory in today", assuming you do a daily inventory scan. Similarly, the "Last Vulnerability Scan" date can be used for this sort of thing.
